- The Australasian Religious Press Association is concerned about violations of the freedoms of media.
- It is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous for many of our colleagues in the media to carry out their work.
- We are particularly concerned about our colleagues in the religious media who are hindered in carrying out their ministry to report news, give information and communicate gospel values.
- ARPA believes that the Christian media have an added responsibility to raise issues that have an impact on human life and dignity.
- Moral support should be given to our colleagues who challenge those who abuse human and religious rights.
- ARPA also maintains that small publications, both secular and religious, which provide a desirable and specialised service, have a right to exist and to have access to appropriate sources of news and information.
- Should religious and other questioning publications be permanently silenced, the wider community will be denied the right to read an alternative point of view.
