Universal media freedoms PDF Print E-mail
  1. The Australasian Religious Press Association is concerned about violations of the freedoms of media.
  2. It is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous for many of our colleagues in the media to carry out their work.
  3. We are particularly concerned about our colleagues in the religious media who are hindered in carrying out their ministry to report news, give information and communicate gospel values.
  4. ARPA believes that the Christian media have an added responsibility to raise issues that have an impact on human life and dignity.
  5. Moral support should be given to our colleagues who challenge those who abuse human and religious rights.
  6. ARPA also maintains that small publications, both secular and religious, which provide a desirable and specialised service, have a right to exist and to have access to appropriate sources of news and information.
  7. Should religious and other questioning publications be permanently silenced, the wider community will be denied the right to read an alternative point of view.
